ABOUT ARNOLD: Arnold is officially the largest city in Jefferson County with over 20,000 people reported living there in 2020. In the mid-1800s, German emigrants came to the area and formed small settlements. Some of these settlements were known as Flamm City, Maxville, Beck, Old Town Arnold, Ten Brooks, and Wickes. In 1972, all the settlements came together and formed what is now known as Arnold, Missouri. A large portion of Arnold now lies on what used to be a Spanish land grant that Auguste Chouteau and Antoine Soulard purchased on January 5, 1824. Arnold’s first mayor, Ferd B. Lang Jr., built a tavern, gas station, and a general store on a piece of land he had purchased from a man named Louis Arnold. This is where the name for the city came from, contrary to some sources stating that residents named it after a postmaster.

Today, Arnold has become a popular spot for shopping with shopping complexes such as Arnold Crossroads, Richardson Square, Arnold Square, Arnold Park Mall, Jefferson County Plaza, and others. Arnold is also home to the Fox School District, which has eleven elementary schools, four middle schools, and two high schools. Another important part of Arnold’s community is its churches. Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, which was in what was originally the Maxville settlement, was the first Roman Catholic parish established in Jefferson County. German and French settlers who lived in the area established the church. The present church that can be seen today was built in 1895. Another church built early in Arnold’s history is St. John’s Lutheran Church. Members held the first services in a small log building. The present church was dedicated in 2002.

You can find out more about Arnold’s history here, here, and here, where we found our information. Here at Partney Heating and Cooling, we understand Arnold’s history and serve the community of small businesses and families with pride. We are here for all their heating and cooling needs.
